Background:

Matt Elliott is the Global Warming and Clean Energy Advocate for Environment New Jersey. Matt helped to pass the Global Warming Response Act this spring, and represents Environment New Jersey on the Board of Public Utilities Clean Energy Task Force. His advocacy work focuses on implementing the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative and the recently passed Global Warming Response Act, strengthening the Energy Master Plan and adopting the recommendations of the Governor's Panel on Off-Shore Wind. Previously, Matt directed NJPIRG's AmeriCorps program, NJ Community Water Watch, working with 15 AmeriCorps members each year, focusing on water quality issues and potential impacts from predicted flooding from global warming. In 2003, as a NJPIRG Rutgers College campus organizer, he worked with the New Brunswick City Council to lobby New Brunswick to adopt solar power for municipal buildings. He graduated from Vassar College with an environmental studies degree in 2003, and he lives in New Brunswick.
