Environment New Jersey, supporters rock down to Electric Avenue

For one day, Trenton’s West State Street, outside of the New Jersey State House, became “Electric Avenue.”

In an Oct. 15 event designed to show support for clean vehicles, Environment New Jersey and our allies and supporters filled the street with electric buses, cars and trucks. Inside the State House, the Senate Environment Committee passed a bill that would install more than 1,000 electric vehicle charging stations, create cash incentives for electric vehicle buyers, and electrify the full NJ Transit bus fleet by 2035.

“While the Trump administration is going the wrong way on clean cars and working to dismantle the federal Clean Car Standards, New Jersey can set a new pace,” said Environment New Jersey State Director Doug O’Malley. “The bill has the potential to pave the way for a transportation system that creates a safe climate and clean air for all.”

The bill now moves on to the state Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee.
