New Jersey's top state officials, international offshore wind developers, labor leaders and environmental advocates all agree: It's time for the state to put “steel in the water.”
At an Aug. 16 event dubbed "Time for Turbines," Gov. Phil Murphy, State Senate President Steve Sweeney and other leaders were joined by Environment New Jersey's Doug O'Malley in celebrating the state's progress toward siting and building our first offshore wind farms—and outlining the next steps.
“The growth of offshore wind in New Jersey is a critical part of establishing a clean energy future for our state and top priority for my administration,” said Gov. Murphy.
Added O'Malley, "Offshore wind remains a tantalizing gold mine of clean energy right off the Jersey Shore."
Sen. Sweeney concluded the event with a review of the governor’s offshore wind legislation and his vision of what's next for state legislators in the coming months.
