As Election Day Approaches, Environment New Jersey Releases Gubernatorial, Legislative & Mayoral Race Endorsements

Environment New Jersey today announced its full slate of endorsements for the gubernatorial race, state legislative elections, two mayoral races this year and Ballot Question 2, as it prepares to launch a get out the vote and voter education push state-wide and in key legislative races leading up to Election Day on Tuesday, November 7.

Senate budget sells out our environment, health, and the treasured arctic national wildlife refuge

The Senate just passed their budget resolution for 2018. In response, Jennie Olson at Environment America, issued the following statement: “The Senate budget makes drastic cuts to some of our most vital programs that protect our air, water, and families’ health. In addition, the Senate budget attempts to sell out our public lands to polluters by including instructions to the Senate Natural Resources Committee that would ultimately allow drilling in the pristine Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Just-Passed House Budget Threatens our Health, Our Environment And The Pristine Arctic National Wildlife Refuge

The U.S. House of Representatives just passed a 2018 budget. In response, Environment America D.C. Office Director Anna Aurilio issued the following statement: "The just-passed House budget threatens the health of our environment and our families. In addition to drastic cuts in some of the programs most vital to protecting America's air and water and our families' health. Adding insult to injury, the House budget also included instructions to the House Natural Resources Committee aimed ultimately at allowing drilling in the pristine Arctic National Wildlife Refuge."

Less Shelter from the Storm: Trump & Congressional Budgets Put New Jersey at Risk

After Hurricanes Harvey and Irma recently pummeled our coasts, Environment New Jersey warned that pending budget proposals from the Trump Administration and Congress threaten key programs that protect our communities from storm- related impacts.  The group documented threats to programs that prevent or curb flooding, sewage overflows and leaks from toxic waste sites. Environment New Jersey also called for preventing more global warming-fueled extreme weather in the future.

Back To School: New Toolkit To Help Get The Lead Out from School Drinking Water

With “back to school” in full swing this week, Environment New Jersey Research & Policy Center offered a new toolkit to help parents, teachers, and administrators Get the Lead Out of schools’ drinking water.  Citing a lack of accurate information on lead contamination in water and how schools should prevent it, Environment New Jersey Research & Policy Center encouraged parents and teachers to put the new toolkit on their “back to school” reading list.
