Biden administration announces key N.Y. Bight offshore wind lease auction

 Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland announced Wednesday that the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) will hold a wind energy auction on Feb. 23 for more than 480,000 acres in the New York Bight. This will be the first offshore wind energy auction under the Biden administration. The auction will allow offshore wind developers to bid on six lease areas – the most areas ever offered in a single auction, according to BOEM’s Final Sale Notice

Bill To Increase Post-Consumer Recycled Content for Plastics Passes! Assembly Votes 48-23-3 & Senate Votes 22-15 on Session’s Last Voting Day

The New Jersey Assembly voted 48-23-3 and the New Jersey Senate voted 22-15 to approve the Recycled Content bill (S2515/A4676) on the final day of the legislative session. The bill would require increasing post-consumer recycled content in a variety of packaging products including plastic containers, plastic beverage containers, plastic & paper bags, plastic trash bags & glass containers. The legislation now goes to Gov. Murphy who will have 7 days to decide the bill’s fate.

Today, the New Jersey Assembly Appropriation Committee voted to approve the Recycled Content bill (S2515/A4676) by a 7-4 vote, which would require increasing post-consumer recycled content in a variety of packaging products including plastic containers, plastic beverage containers, plastic bags, plastic trash bags, glass containers, and paper bags.
